What is Existential intelligence?

The "wondering smart" ("cosmic smart, spiritually smart, or metaphysical intelligence") student exhibits the proclivity to pose (and ponder) questions about life, death, and ultimate realities.  Existential Intelligence is the sensitivity and capacity to tackle deep questions about human existence, such as the meaning of life, why do we die, and how did we get here.

The human response to being alive can include aesthetics, philosophy, and religion and emphasizes the classical values of beauty, truth, and goodness. A strong existential intelligence allows students to see their place in the big picture, be it in the classroom, community, world, or universe. Gardner is still not satisfied that he has enough physiologic brain evidence to conclusively establish this as an intelligence, but he has been considering establishing it as the ninth intelligence.

Existential intelligence is a proficiency in asking and examining questions about life, death, and ultimate realities. Students with strong existential intelligence enjoy, and have success working with complex theories.

Tips for picking software

There is no one best way to find FOSS projects that will best serve your needs. There are several rules of thumb you can use to help you make informed decisions.

    * Do you already have something that will do the job well?

    * Does the program do what you want?

    * Do you care about the ideologies behind free software and open source software?

    * Do you know other people that already use it?

    * Is the current version over a year old?

    * Are there user support mailing lists you can join?
